Space Escape

Post by baconhawka7x »

Buy Now on Steam! ($2 for the next week!): https://store.steampowered.com/app/3349 ... ce_Escape/

Description:
Space Escape is a rogue-like arcade shoot-'em-up game where survival is the only mission. Forget peaceful space exploration—you're dodging obstacles and blasting alien ships coming at you from every direction. Level up, stack power-ups, and upgrade to take on tougher enemies. Got what it takes to survive the chaos of space? Prove it.
Features:

- Endless Survival: Fight through infinite waves of enemies and bosses, where every run delivers new twists and turns to keep you on edge.

- Choose Your Ship: Pick from 4 unique ships (Perhaps some secret ones, as well?), each with their own style and stats. Ready for action!

- Power Up: Stack over 15 power-ups to boost your ship’s firepower, speed, and abilities. Mix and match for ultimate combos!

- Arm Yourself: From missiles to laser beams, you’ve got the weapons to turn alien ships into space dust.

- Upgrade System: Earn credits as you battle through waves, then spend them on a variety of permanent upgrades to boost your firepower, health, and much more!

-----

This is my first complete game & commercial release after many, many years of making games with love2d!

I don't think it's some absolute gaming masterpiece, but I think most people can get at least a few hours of fun out of it!

Learned so much from finally pushing through the later half of developing a game.

If it ends up getting at least a few thousand downloads we'll probably start working on content updates for the next year or so - Otherwise, the current plan is to move forward with the next project.

If anyone is unable to buy it for any reason feel free to send me a dm (twitter or discord are best) and I will probably be able to send you a key :^)

Congrats! Can you provide some up-to-date tips on Steam integration?

Honestly I didn't really do any. I might add achievements at some point though.

As far as publishing / deploying it - The technical side of it was kind of hard for me to grasp at first. The steamworks backend is not terrible, but there always seem to be 1-2 more steps than you'd expect to do just about anything, and they don't make it very clear sometimes.

But I'm probably just dumb.

Actually uploading the files to your depots is pretty easy with the GUI tool (It generates the scripts for you) - The videos they have on it are a bit outdated though.

Congrats on the milestone! Looks interesting I'll have to give it a go this evening. I've managed to renege on my plan to release something on Steam for about the fourth year on the trot now but it's always inspiring seeing other people do it :)

Do you have any ideas for your next project or just going to take a break for a while?

Thanks! I can definitely relate. I can't even remember all of the games I've intended to eventually release but just never saw it through to the end.

If this game picks up any traction I'll probably spend at least another 6 months - a year working on content updates. Otherwise I have been working on my next project and will probably just focus on that.
