Are you certain Thrust II was released in 86 and not 88? According to wikipedia, the original Thrust was released in 86 and the sequel in 88, so if you're aiming for the 30th anniversary of the sequel, then you still got till 2018 :3

I was going by the copyright date in the menu. Actually. WoS mentions 1987 as the release year, and indeed most magazines that talk about it are from that year (e.g. this review). So you're right that it was not 86, but wrong that it was 88. It doesn't matter that much, it was a good excuse to render tribute to it ;)

Wikipedia seems to refer to the (poorer, IMO) C64 version, which appears to have been released later.

Nice, I like the graphics especially and the way the whole gameplay is handled and coded simply enough.

Edit: Oh, my. I have bumped. What is my problem. :o:
The risk I took was calculated,
but man, am I bad at math.

hi, I see there are not much changes to the repositories since 2 years.

It is a great tribute to the original and the gameplay is perfectly well remade so I decided to give a try and forked it to study it and I may add some enhancements which may include graphics. So far I'm loving the work.

The game has not much graphics and achieving original replacement for the assets at the resolution the assets should not be a big issue.
Here is my fork: https://codeberg.org/glitchapp/thrust-ii-reloaded, For now I did not add anything but stay tuned and feel free to provide feedback.

You are free to pick up or discard anything I add to the game and incorporate it to your own repository and feel free to contact me if there's anything you would specially like to see in the game (not sure I can accomplish all wishes but feel free to let me know what you would like to see in the game).

I did not modified the tileset much but I changed the splash screen and title and added some background and shading. For anyone interested to have fast access to the idea I uploaded a love file here and some screenshots.

ah I'm not happy with the ship in the splash but every element is stored in layers and can and will be eventually replaced if I get better assets.

I hope you like them!

* Update, I reuploaded a new version which adds touch controls, about section and pull menu. If you play the game in a desktop simply press 5 on the main menu to disable the touch controls.

Enjoy!

I managed to make the cable flexible but I need to figure out how to make the cable follow the ship when is not centered by the camera.

I added a few extra features to the game which are enumerated and nicely ilustrated with screenshots, you can check them on the repository: https://codeberg.org/glitchapp/thrust-ii-reloaded

As there are enough screenshots on the repository I will just add one of them here to ilustrate the changes:

Most of them are recycled libraries I used to port my favourite games to mobiles such as the touch controls or the pull menu, but also the radial menu (which I originally created and released for my game remake "fish fiilets remake").

The game is therefore now playable on mobile phones and also with gamepad.

Feel free to provide feedback and of course to pick up anything you like for your repository (or none if you don't like them). If you need help isolating any of the features for the case that you like some and others not feel free to ask.

Enjoy!

The cable now follows the ship also when it is not in the center of the screen, I highlighted the segments of the cable with some shading.
