Hi everybody! Due to a particular unfortunate combination of character flaws and personality deficits, I am making Logic Would Follow, a game about a robot AI (a literal black box) who talks himself into attempting to end all life, using improvised weapons such as axes, bricks, hammers, and fire extinguishers.

I'm proud of what I was able to do, I didn't use any external libs, besides Love2D I wrote all the code and did all the art. I did use packs for the sound and music though. My goal was to learn how to code and do pixel art, and I think I more or less succeeded. But I am disappointed that it's still not really a game, just a collection of systems. I was hoping to make a platformer or shooter, but just due to how isometric view works, it's not really working out. Jumping challenges are frustrating and unfair, and aiming is tricky and not satisfying. You can see I did some tricks and added aiming helpers and things, but it just isn't enough.
Anyway, I haven't really shown it anybody yet so I wanted to get some opinions before I decide whether to shelve it. I think I'd like to make a 2D platformer one day, maybe going ahead and switching now would be easier than trying to polish this turd? It seems like it would be, but I actually have no idea. Any feedback is appreciated!

Nice job. Your first project is better than my 30th project. I'm sure this one has a future. Maybe make the maps smaller so it doesn't feel so empty and then it will be more gamey.

It looks great! It seems like a combination of different genres ... like isometric car racing, with some slash and puzzle mechanics and even dialogs... I like the humor ... Some things I would add to it:
- Level editor
- Two players mode
- More puzzle elements?
- Shaders and cool effects

Thanks so much for the kind words, guys. I put so much effort into it but then got so stuck that it was really discouraging. I tried out some of the suggestions, I didn't go super far with the racing thing but it could possibly work (loved Rock n' Roll racing as a kid), and I tried writing some story and more puzzles but they were genuinely terrible. What was cool though, I did try to see how small I could make a map and ended up with tiny rooms packed with stuff, and I was like "oh damn, this could be a spaceship." I'm working on a prototype now of just ships firing at each other like FTL. Maybe the player will still control the robot as part of it, not sure yet, still experimenting. Either way, if I can get it to work I will have salvaged a good chunk of the core code which feels a lot better than starting on something completely new.

Keep it up. If you need a story, just browser Project Gutenberg and old magazines. There are plenty of sci-fi stories, you can just reuse (with attribution):

It might not be a game yet but it looks like something that I want to be a game.
The "FTL spaceship" idea seems best to me.
Maybe the outer walls get damaged by asteroids and you have to repair them by placing/moving blocks.
As robot you can survive in depressurized rooms but the human crew can not.
That would be a basic survival arcade game. Then add more enemies, moveable turrets, ammunition system for the turrets, a power grid and so on.
