You know that one guy on youtube who redisigns logos in 3d software? Well i've been playing around with blender lately and decided to attempt to redesign löves logo in 3d software. Here are the results.
This was my first attempt, The background is a subdivided cube, And the heart is a plane i subdivided and nudged the vertices around until it resembled a heart. As you can tell i did not do a good job.
For my 2nd attempt the background remained the same, But for the heart, I used Inkscapes "Trace Bitmap" feature to extract the shape of the heart, Imported that into blender, and with a few modifiers i had a much cleaner heart shape. Then i messed around with lighting and materials to create a few variations.
I'm not much of an artist, But this was a pretty fun little exercise.

Yee the heart should be flat. The spike shadow on it looks weird.
Also making heart shapes is easy, if you havent found it yet: Blender has a mirror mode that autcompletes symetrical objects.
And then make it a bezier curve instead a plane.

I thought it looked kinda boring when the heart was flat. Maybe should've made that effect more subtle. Thanks for the tip!BrotSagtMist wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 12:07 pm Yee the heart should be flat. The spike shadow on it looks weird.

Well the hearts center should be flat, to avoid that spike light.
But if you could shift the 3D effect to the edges, that should be cool.

The first one looks best and also works the best as a logo.
I think logos need clear shapes and contrasts, the other variants lack that.
It depends on the context. #3 might work if used in large size on the splashscreen of a cyberpunk themed game, for example.
For general use as logo that is usable in many situations and "readable" at all sizes #1 is the best.

The best is the #1 and the #6 (what in your comment), and every logo has its own uses
