Thought about working on that, but ended up liking the current system more. I really wanted the window to be resized to anything, and didn't want black edges either. I forgot to mention, in case it's useful for you or someone else, there's also a scaling method that doesn't keep the ratio (so there are no black bars and the window is filled) that allows you to resize however you want, but it will distort the display if you switch from 16:9 to 4:3, for example.
