Seems the issue was the MSAA setting - I had it on 0, changed it to 1, works like a charm. Thanks again Bigfoot for all your help.

I knew that anti-aliasing could in some cases created a flicker but never heard the opposite but hey, so much the better! If someone could explain it I'd be all ears ^^

It's still strange, I tried with/without MSAA, with/without VSync, adding sleeps, adjusting the parameters of my 980, never flickering personally.

No doubt a difference in OS's/Drivers - I noticed when you dragged the window it continued to update, on my system no updates until I stop dragging. Then again, I do my best to turn off every bell and whistle on my system - animated/transparent windows, themes, all that crap - so it could be my fault in the end. I've had this comp long enough to forget all the things I did to it when I got it.
