Hello developers, for the last few months I've been working on my game project Greedy Firefly where you control a flying firefly to avoid spiders, spiderwebs and other traps and collect all the diamonds to activate the escape gate. Here is the first look of my game https://twitter.com/kiyo16908503/status ... 12704?s=20

Greedy Firefly Game Development First Look
Re: Greedy Firefly Game Development First Look
Is there a download yet or only the video?
Graphics are a nice retro style with derpy spider eyes, that is nice.
From the video the gameplay looks very unforgiving and maybe frustrating.
It reminds me of a mix of Flappy Bird and Glider ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8_ypI_C7nM )
Personally I am not a big fan of games that require such pixel-perfect control to navigate very narrow levels
and one slightly touch of an obstacle means instant death.
("Glider" is like that in some places too but somehow I have happy memories of that, maybe because the movement was faster.)
In the video touching the web is instant Game Over, I assume it is the same when touching a spider/cannon ball/spikes?
Random suggestions:
Replace "instant death" with some other effect.
For example:
- webs: touching them makes you stick but you can somehow free yourself. also all spiders move towards you.
- cannon: when the shots hit you, you bounce around. or maybe you just free-fall a short distance, as if stunned.
-walls: use spikes only as obstacles in some areas. otherwise just normal walls without damage.

Thank you for your suggestions. Yeah, you are right. All the traps are instant death. I thought that will be more fun to play.knorke wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 5:27 am Is there a download yet or only the video?
