Why it will be ready in 2025? It looks not so complicated, one year for mechanics and level editor, one year for creating several levels (with Löve).
probably because this game really old, and it was worked under sdl1 when it was writen
and now, who maintain this game, make updates whatever they want
This game brings back some nice memories for me from the time when I was daily driving Linux many years ago.
It was one of my favourite games to kill some time with on Linux.
Before Linux I had no access to internet at home and I was getting most of my software and games from CD's included with PC magazines so the idea of free software was unknown to me. Even though the CD's was considered a "free gift", the CD's was the reason I have purchased the magazines so I did not consider it free, I did not even know something like "free software" actually exists.
So later, when I had internet at home for the first time and I have discovered the world of free and open software and tried Linux, I was shocked to see being able to download this game for free and the amount of features and polish the game has to offer. I loved it.
Unfortunately today among those many free ad-supported modern 3D mobile games people not going to appreciate what SuperTux has to offer but glad to see the developers are still keeping it alive.
I think it could be more organised if there was an Off-Topic category.
General: about game dev in Love2D and Lua in general
Support: about the API if you have any technical questions, bug reports.
Games: to showcase your creations
Libraries: about Love2d and Lua libs
Ports: about porting Love2D to other platforms
Off-Topic: everything else as long it is not illegal content and spam would fit in here like this topic about SuperTux.
One could argue what is the point if it's not related to Love2D and Lua or not even game dev but I think such topics could help to build the community. Like talking about nothing but how to, how to, how to, how to, published, published, error, error.... all day can suck the life out of people. Off-Topic can break the ice a little.
