I started making Youtube videos less than a year ago, they cover Lua & Löve game development and try to teach people who have never programmed before how to make games. I just released the first video which isn't a tutorial and it's about our entry for this Ludum Dare. I would love to get some feedback on it
If you want to try to game here is a link
And our Ludum Dare page is here.
Disco Inferno
Re: Disco Inferno
Nice video, and nice looking game. I really like to see the progress in this short amount of time.
I subscribed to your youtube channel but somehow missed this video, maybe the thumbnail isn't catchy enough ?

I like the simple art style
Re: Disco Inferno
Your title is misleading.
A game can be mistakeably, and for good reason, considered continuous.
Still being made as players play and enjoy the game.
I don't know what audience you're speaking to,
but your game's spirit does not seem complete!..
You should have many levels, and some :^)

Re: Disco Inferno
I'm having some trouble understanding you due to your English being a bit on the weaker side, so excuse me if I misunderstood what you meant.
A game absolutely be considered a game even if it is not under development. There are plenty of games which are very short, and a lot of game which are really massive. Feel free to have your own definition of what a "game" is.
My channel has game development tutorials, so a qualified guess would be game developers
It was made in 72 hours, so I totally agree that there are a lot of things which can be added.
I will take that as a compliment, however it wont happen.
Re: Disco Inferno
He created a Ludum Dare entry. That's where you basically work nonstop for a full weekend, and you get what you did in that time. You don't come in with pre-made assets, code, or anything else made ahead of time. You start from scratch and write a game in 2 days.Suttebun wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 8:59 pm Your title is misleading.

No one expects a Ludum Dare entry to be polished or ready to release on Steam - the intent is to make a something that's usable and vaguely resembles a complete video game in something like 48-72 hours.
Considering how long it takes to write AAA games, writing game with art and sound assets in 3 days is insane. The fact that they got as far as they did speaks to their skill. For someone to come in here and run them down because it's not polished completely ignores the spirit of the Ludum Dare and the context in which this was presented.

Hmmm, I see your point, though I bet Suttebun knows that. Even if not, Suttebun was probably giving feedback, which the first post asked for.tomxp411 wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 12:58 am

(And I guess he didn't have any bad intentions due to the :^) )
And yes, I'm afraid I do not have the skill for a ludum dare

His advertisement has that chest up - so I expect it!No one expects a Ludum Dare entry to be polished or ready to release on Steam -
