Why does LÖVE turn off the compositor under KDE?

OS: Manjaro Linux
DE: KDE Plasma with KWin

When I launch LÖVE like this, KWin stops, and it starts using some fallback non-compositing WM. When I close the LÖVE window, it turns back to normal. Why does this happen, and how would I fix it?

Maybe it doesn't? Maybe it's KDE that disables it when an OpenGL application is launched?

Try with other OpenGL applications.
