Now there's an idea. :) Any lover will implicitly be a part of the LÖVE-PARTY.

I would absolutely love some help with my game, especially from you guys, but I thought that if there were even a minor chance of my game becoming commercial that It might cause issues. I want to create my game and release it for free, but leave it open for say a "pay' version or a "donation" version With something a little extra.

The idea of a future in indie game development would be amazing. I finished high school 3 years ago and have been working since, though I haven't been working for the last few months. Iv'e been taking some time to learn Lua and Love. I obviously can't be certain that I will make a lot of money, but I do think I could create something that people want to play. I've gotten significantly good feedback on the basic game I've created already, not only from the love community but also friends. All of this on basic graphics that I created in 2 hours. When the game itself is finished I will take a couple of weeks to really sit down and play with the visual style and create something as professional as possible.

I was actually going to approach some of you to see if you would like to help me push towards a commercial release, and work with the profits when we got to that point. Obviously I'm not completely fluent with Lua, but I do have experience in web design and creating graphics, sprites, and interfaces has always been a hobby. So for the time being I'm stuck with progressing on my own, posting If I need help, and being happy with what I can get :)

I'm not certain how using love for commercial purposes would "blow-over" with community since everyone seems to share almost everything they make. I didn't want to feel like I was "going againsed" the ways of the community, since I also want to be a part of the community as much as I can..

Definitely go for it.

If you can make money off the game, then by all means, make money off the game. Just because nobody else here has done so yet, shouldn't be a factor into you not doing so. I think everyone here would agree a successful commercial LOVE game would be a win for LOVE as a whole.

Thank's for the reassurance. I would love to have some help though. If I could create graphics and the website only, and not worry so much about code I think I could make some pretty attractive Visuals. Cinematic's is something I hoped to work on as well, so all of these things are time consuming. If there were 2 people working on code and 2 people working on graphics, based on my ideas, I think it could be an amazing game.

Nobody that we know of, at least. And we do know LÖVE is used in at least one professional (indie) studio as a prototyping engine, so indirectly it's probably been used to make money of games already.

I'm not sure. It's here on the forums somewhere, though.
