"A Whiff of Steam" team is pleased to announce, that we are publishing public poll to select winner of contest. All proposals followed the rules and are in good shape, so there are 3 different drafts to pick from. I'm attaching latest versions of all proposals we got at submission topic. Even if you lacked time to write your entry, you can still contribute to the shape of the story - read existing proposals and pick one you like most!
The poll will stay open for two weeks, or longer if there are to few votes. Oh, and please confirm your vote by leaving comment, so we know who already voted. We would be pleased if you could also leave some comments - why you think story X is better than Y and Z? It will generate feedback for author of winning proposal to what he can fix/change to make it even better.

Re: "A Whiff of Steam" story contest - time to VOTE!
I voted for Partymetroid's proposal, because I liked the backstory and I found the main storyline to be clear and well-explained. Avathar's felt a little bit too much like the script for an action movie, and robin's was just too complex for my tiny little brain to be able to follow. While I appreciate details in the final script, a high-level overview like this should be simple, enticing and to the point - like Partymetroid's proposal.

i voted for partymetroid because i liked his idea of the world splitting
and the balance between story and action in the plot
although i really liked avathars idea and it was a close call
i really liked avathars take on the technitions and alot of the plot ideas though.

Dull but sincere filler.

All of the entries (including my own) are REALLY good...
Avathar has a great deal of excellent content and imagery (I especially like his physical description of the world)...
Robin's has good, concrete story elements, which my proposition is slightly lacking in (but I definitely intend to change that through time, if I am chosen as writer through this contest).
Mine, I think, has a great and interesting backstory and thus has good potential because of it.
Okay, those are my opinions on the stories. As for the people themselves as developers, think all three contestants, myself included, are great writers. If it would be possible, I would choose myself as the writer/senior editor (because, well, I love writing and am very good with grammar/presentation (and want this position )), Avathar as co-writer (as I think we would complement each other very well)... and well, Robin is a main dev so he can probably choose whatever he wants.
Also, as for my own personal pathos, I REALLY want this position, because I not only really like the ideas and talent behind this project, but also because I really love writing and want a creative outlet. I may also want to write for games as a profession... and having a well-done project under my belt would be good for a resume.
[edit] Oh, and I voted for myself... so yeah.

lol, Cornelius King was the name of the main character in the original plot. I (and at least Robin too (for what I remember)) just recycled the name.arquivista wrote:partymetroid, all I have to say to you is that...
