I've tried Atom and really want to like it, but I just keep going back to SublimeText 3. I switched from TextWrangler years ago and got used to its missing stuff (I liked being able to edit search results from within the dialog without ever switching back to the document itself) but I just can't do the same with Atom. Maybe with the right extensions I could make it work but eh, I'm happy with ST.

Also, I'll say I have a pet peeve with apps on macOS that treat my Home folder like it's Linux and fill it with invisible settings folders. STOP DOING THAT! Put that shit in the Library where it belongs! When I uninstall an app I end up with stuff left behind that even Hazel doesn't find that I end up finding years later taking up a bunch of space when I haven't had the app in forever. But this is a rant about more apps than just Atom and I'm just rambling.

VSCode is top notch. Switched from Atom to VSCode a while ago and haven't looked back.

How did you implement a short-cut to run LOVE code?

I use ZeroBrane IDE as it has code auto completion and can launch your app/game from a click of a single button.

Another Visual Studio Code user here! Damn, it's just too good to be true! It's not perfect but at least integrated with Git. There're a few useful Lua extensions that you can use so you can speed up your development (including linter).

Sublime Text 3 and Lua-Love.

Code: Select all

if self:hasBeer() then self:drink()
else self:getBeer() end

I don't know if it was mentioned before, but from visual studio code, one can install lua extensions through the extensions tab.
There's obviously a Löve launcher.
You just have to set the Löve path and press alt+l anytime in the editor to open the game you're working on.
I use the integrated autosave feature so I don't even have to save first :D
Sorry for the visual studio code shilling but it's my favorite editor so far!
