Going Home

Post by yetneverdone »

Hi, this is my very first Love2D project. I just learned about this wonderful framework after switching from Windows to Linux, hence switching from Game Maker Studio. Cheers!

This is a 2D pixelated horror survival game that focuses on the theme rather than the gameplay.

The gameplay is simple, use A or D to move, F to toggle the flashlight, E to interact with objects.
The game draws inspirations from other indie games like "homecoming" and "one after another".

another gameplay screenshot:

So overall, it took me a month and a half to get to this far. Slow right? Kind of cramming and lazy!
I just want to ask the community, since I am a teenager who needs a form of income, do you think I should sell this game? or should I make a demo free and then ask for payment for the whole game? I am also planning to port it on android, ad revenue? or just plain sell the game?

follow me on twitter for more updates! https://twitter.com/flamendless

Thanks alot! OBEY LOVE!

You don't necessarily need to make a free demo of your game, however, you should definitely demonstrate your game, by means of a trailer or something of the like. I think that providing a free demo of your game would allow others to give you insight and criticism allowing you to improve your game. I like that you're ambitious about your first game though, most people - myself at least - don't have a lot to show for as far as their first games go.

Im considering it to be free. Although is it safe to ask for donations using paypal?

Another thing is, itch.io and gamejolt has both options. Which is better?

Oh, I guess the itch.io looks more dev-friendly. Maybe in both sites?

Both is a good option. Also consider your first project being a free one, it is in order to make a name, also so people can know that you can deliver. Plus if you decide to leave this and never touch it again no one will resent you. Keep it up! And hope it goes well
for i, person in ipairs(everybody) do
[tab]if not person.obey then person:setObey(true) end
end

Thanks. I will keep that in mind for consideration.
