Video and Love2D

Post by xenogia »

Hi Guys,

A friend recommended me Love2D on Twitter and from what I've seen so far it looks absolutely fantastic. Just a quick question - what would be the easiest way to implement video into Love2d?

Or you could animate, or do cutscenes, but video itself, not at the moment.

Is Love capable of handling large amounts of frame of animation? For example I could cut the characters up but for animation but it would be like 40 frames. Would this cause issues with RAM?

That should be no problem, although Löve itself doesn't handle animations (anymore). You'll have to write your own animation code, or use AnAL.

You could meticulously load thousands of png files... Or maybe make animation files. That's about it, really.

For the record though, since Love runs on top of OpenGL, and there are plenty of OpenGL video renderers, Love is perfectly capable of doing video one day. Of course there are no guarantees that the devs will implement it anytime soon.
