Hey Love, Nyrds here! =)
As a humble newbie indie game developers we are constantly looking for a little handy game engine. And we figured, that Love2d might be just a thing for us. So for a little bit of practice we made a flappy bird clone, featuring a pixely rat. Yes it uses sprites from open source Pixel Dungeon.
And we actually made it into an android app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... s.jumpyrat
And if you are not a Google fan, you can download apk from here:

Or you can download the *.love file here:

Re: Jumpy Rat
Hey, welcome to the forums!
I'm guessing flappy-bird-like-gameplay only needs a single button, right? Then this should be very easy to port to the PC? I think you'll get much more attention (and downloads) if you post a .love file here - it's what most people on these forums will download...

Thank you! Glad to be here!
I was thinking about that, I guess I'll do it after I clean up the code, otherwise it would be pretty embarassing =)Germanunkol wrote: I think you'll get much more attention (and downloads) if you post a .love file here

I used to think like that, then you realize that no one (including yourself) can be arsed to open up and look at someones code.Nyrds wrote:Thank you! Glad to be here!

Re: Jumpy Rat
Thansk for the .love file!
I'm not a flappy-bird-expert (I don't think I ever played the original, only clones), but this game seems very difficult to me. I feel like I should be able to control the jump-height at least a little by clicking longer (and once I release, the rat jumps), because the way it is I barely get past the first two columns
But maybe I just suck at these games.
Other than that, well done, the movement feels nice!
It looks like you've made games before? What Engine are you coming from?

They are "supposed" to be like that. Personally I always hated it.Germanunkol wrote:Thansk for the .love file!

Re: Jumpy Rat
I guess I kinda did =) At this point there is only 2 games that was released, and thus can be considered "developed". One of them was a flash game, that was basically "columns" clone. And the other one would be Remixed Pixel Dungeon for android, which is, naturally, fork of an open source game Pixel Dungeon.Germanunkol wrote:It looks like you've made games before? A link for RPD, if you're interested: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... dungeon.ml
So I don't really coming from any engines, just little bit of programming in different languages. I guess, since I wanted to make games I spent a lot of time researching the whole game design thingy, so maybe I got certain understanding on how more or less adequate gameplay feels like from that.
Re: Jumpy Rat
The reason why I don't like Flappy Bird is because I'm really, really bad at it.
I like your version though because I've finally scored 10 points!
