BallPlay Cupid

BallPlay is a series of arcade puzzle games. The name Cupid may imply a romantic setup, but it was only a codename based on the fact that the engine is called "Löve", and I decided to play along :-P

The game can currently be downloaded from GameJolt, and has been set up to work on Windows, Linux and Mac. The current game is officially beta so expect a few bugs. If you find any please report them on my Github issue tracker

Though this game was an experimental project, to investigate the possibilities Love has to offer, I still did try to make the game look as cool as I could and to take on the project seriously.

The object of the game is easy. You have several balls rolling over the field. You can use plates and sometimes barriers to change their direction. You need to complete the "mission" to complete the puzzle, however, you need a minimum number of balls to "survive" the mission in order to deem the puzzle "succeeded". This sounds easier than it is, as perfect timing can be required to do this well and there can be some traps that can hinder you on your way.

The game has some leaderboards kept over the internet. Are you quicker than other players? Or do you need less moves to do it right? Could you make more balls survive than other players? Can you beat my scores?

BallPlay Cupid is my first Löve2D project, and it does look like it won't be my last, though due to my current schedule, it may take awhile before another Löve2D project will be started. But this project sure told me Löve2D is a nice tool to work with. ;)

Why are there three executables? What's the correct one?

I couldn't play under Linux, I've left a report on GitHub.

A leftover from early development I didn't properly clean up.
BallPlayCupid.exe is in Windows the correct one. I shall delete the other two in the new release.

These bugs should now be fixed, and the new version is being uploaded as we speak. Thank you for your detailed report. ;)

If the download says version 16.5.1 it should contain the fixed version.

Thanks for the quick fixes.

Nice cute puzzle game. It's obvious what the source of inspiration was :)

Letting the player change the selected tool with the keyboard would be a nice addition.

I agree. As a matter of fact, I added that one on the issue tracker (as that tracker may also be used for suggestions). ;)
