Love questions

I'm new to Love software. To an extent I can understand Lua, but there are some things I still can't figure out how to do with the Love functions.

I'm trying to create a game with characters on a tile based field, but I can't figure out where to go. I can't seem to animate, I can't make the grid, and I need more explaination of Love functions.

If someone could help me at least to load and animate sprites, that would be very appreciated.
