Hotplate app for your phone

Post by micha »

I thought I'd try the new android functionality of LÖVE and there we go:

I made a hotplate app.

It is pretty useful, if you want to heat up a cup of tea and don't want to walk to the kitchen. If you have a larger phone, you can probably prepare a fried egg directly on your display, but I could not try this on my small display.

Caution: High battery consumption.
I had to recharge my phone after heating two cups of tea.

I am pretty sure that the phone will not burn. Most of todays phones have pretty cheap display components, so you will most likely not be able to boil water with this app. Originally I wanted to use this to make coffee in my office, but the water only gets lukewarm.

If you put it into a super-insulater contained it may work! ;)
(I've heard that they've made homes that can be heated off a single light-bulb, so this isn't completely a joke)

I tried your app and I really like it. I find that it works best when I put my phone directly in my cup of water and turn the hotplate on.

Even if it's supposed to be waterproof, I doubt sticking a phone in a cup of water would be a good idea :P

Thanks for the app, it's very useful!

I'd like to report a problem that I'm having. When I put a pan on the hotplate, I can't press the buttons because they are fully covered. Can we expect a voice-activated version any time soon, so I don't need to remove the pan every time I want to change the power setting?

Is this just fantasy?

I have successfully waited for my water to boil with this app.
