Help with installing Love2D on Linux Mint 17.2

I really new to linux, if anyone could give me instructions on how to do it that would be awesome!

Go to http://love2d.org and download the love release for Ubuntu and your architecture. Then go into your terminal and enter:

sudo dpkg --install path/to/love/deb/file

That should work.

I think you can just follow the instructions for Ubuntu, but I'm not completely sure, it's been a while since I've last used Mint.

I tried but it throws back this error:
Cannot add PPA: 'No JSON object could be decoded'
