Ah yes, I've listed the libraries with the latest repo version in mind, where DevIL is already ditched.
I agree that some libraries are better not linked statically, especially the ones that are closely tied to hardware/OS. I remember some presentation where SDL developer strongly advised against statically linking the library for the very reasons you have mentioned.
What OP is asking, even if as a proof of concept, can be done on both technical and legal basis.

On a note to this, you need the lua.dll in order to link Lua Binary modules to LÖVE, so for example if you want to use LuaSec, LuaFilesystem, LPeg, LuaZipWriter (to mention a few) you need it!slime wrote: The Lua .dll provided with LÖVE is actually LuaJIT, and it too can be swapped out with an updated version (e.g. LuaJIT 2.1-alpha).
