My son wants to play mari0 from http://stabyourself.net/mari0/ because his friends play it. groan.
Mari0 has not been updated for years and only works with love 0.8.0
The Linux Mint repositories have been updated to carry the latest love
So until Mari0 gets a long promised update with 0.9 compatibility I need to install love 0.8.0
I searched the forums and found LÖVE 0.8.0 Released at viewtopic.php?t=8750
I downloaded the appropriate .deb file: https://bitbucket.org/rude/love/downloa ... _amd64.deb
When I try to install that package with GDebi I get error: dependency is not satisfiable: libmng1
Has anyone else been down this road? Have I missed something obvious?

Re: [solved] how to install love 0.8 on linux mint 17.1
got it! It seems libmng1 is a Multiple-image Network Graphics library that has been replaced by libmng2 in the repositories. However it is still available at http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/libmng1
so the process is:
1) download the appropriate libmng1 deb package from http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/libmng1 and install it with gdebi.
2) download the appropriate LÖVE 0.8.0 deb package from viewtopic.php?t=8750 and install it with gdebi. Do NOT take the upgrade when it is offered.
3) download Mari0 1.6 from http://stabyourself.net/dl.php?file=mar ... -linux.zip and extract it.
my son is now happily playing it. Maybe this will help someone else.
