Re: LÖVE-Jam 2 [Voting for themes]

I am planning on participating, and this will be my first "real" game jam (I have done a bunch on my own just to crank stuff out for fun)

I assume that common open-source libraries like Anal, TESound etc. are acceptable? Also, what are the rules regarding using pre-existing code of our own? I don't necessarily mean plopping my entire game engine into the project, but I have quite a bit of scaffolding that I'd hate to have to re-write (class library, observer patterns, input handling etc.)

As long as they do not lay a specific game type, say for example as Danmaku game library, or a top-down shooter game library, any library would be fine. This jam was made to be fun, not to set a hard rule-set.

EDIT: Posted the winning theme on itch, and in the OP.

So since the theme is known now one could in theory start already?

Sure. If you don't have time during the allocated period, feel free to start now.

Thanks, I'm very much a beginner anyway, so no real competition even if I had time. Maybe I'll at least manage to finish *something*. Still contemplating my crazy fusion ideas. *Juice Fusion*!

I guess everyone had the *Juce Fusion* idea, it's so obvious, but how to make a fun game out of it?

Its also not about "winning" but about having fun, the more people who join, the more fun! :)

I'm already having fun :)
I have a head start of maybe 6 hours but given that I'll likely have little to no time the next two days I guess it's OK.
It still motivates me immensily. I had the basic gameplay planned for quite some time but never started to actually write the game. Now I fused it with the fusion idea and already have something that isn't far from an actually playable game (it's a character that moves and jumps, for me that is quite something). I'll likely implement the original idea as well, and given that I'll likely be able to reuse most of what I write during the jam I'll be a lot closer to that goal than I was before. Now the chances that I'll reach my goal of finishing that game during the summer increased a lot.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with, "fusion" is such a weird topic.

I will almost certainly have to skip this one. The only free time I have this week is 3 hours on sunday. I like the theme, though. Good luck to everyone involved!
When I write def I mean function.
