Error installing the source code - linux sabayon--solved

Post by arion_deno »

Hello everyone :awesome: , I mean that is a joy to be here. I am a beginner in love2d, but I love the idea.

I'm having a little problem when installing love2d directly from the source code, I'm using Sabayon Linux AMD 64 I did the following steps like this in the Wiki.

1 First installed the libs with emerge
2 Copiler with makefile

but the end shows an error

Code: Select all

modules/event/sdl/Event.cpp:72:20: error: 'SDL_INIT_EVENTS' was not declared in this scope
various shows and make mistakes, which make no difference
make [1] and anything.

What do I could choose you done wrong?

Thank you in advance for attention ...

_______________solved_______________________

Hello everyone I already Found Out WHAT happens.
I try to give a make and make install, but the install script, not directly copy the files to the folders, still do not know why.
I soon found out I have to do the manual install the latest version of SDL2. Thank you for your attention and for your patience everyone, I'll edit the topic, to say it was possible to solve the problem. grateful

Post by slime »

The error message indicates you don't have the SDL 2 headers (from the SDL 2 development library), since SDL_INIT_EVENTS is in SDL 2 but not SDL 1. I don't use Linux so I can't say much more than that.

SDL_INIT_EVENTS was added to SDL 2 shortly before it was officially released, so maybe the package manager has an old beta version of SDL 2 uploaded before SDL 2's actual release? That's my best guess.

Are you passing any flags yourself? It seems like it's picking up the old SDL headers instead of the SDL2 headers, and having just checked the sabayon package, that shouldn't happen.

Re: Error installing the source code - linux sabayon

Post by arion_deno »

well .... I tried installed the 2 SDL (SDL 2.0.3) directly from the source code.
as suggested.
and yet the error persists. :ultrahappy:

Code: Select all

modules / event / sdl / Event.cpp: In destructor 'virtual love :: event :: sdl :: Event :: ~ Event ()':
modules / event / sdl / Event.cpp: 72: 20: error: 'SDL_INIT_EVENTS' was not declared in this scope
make [2]: ** [modules / event / sdl / Event.lo] Error 1
make [2]: Leaving directory `/home/arion/Downloads/love-0.9.1/src '
make [1]: ** [install-recursive] Error 1
make [1]: Leaving directory `/home/arion/Downloads/love-0.9.1/src '
make: ** [install-recursive] Error 1

Are you passing any flags yourself? It seems like it's picking up the old SDL headers instead of the SDL2 headers, and having just checked the sabayon package, that shouldn't happen.
So .... I removed SDL 1.2 headers for this new attempt. Thank you for your attention :awesome:

anyone have any other ideas. ? :?
Thanks again for the help

Can you post your config.log file, perhaps?

So it does pick up the SDL2 include dir correctly.. what output does the following command have?

Code: Select all

grep SDL_INIT_EVENTS /usr/include/SDL2/SDL.h

 *
 * This is the Simple DirectMedia Layer, a general API that provides low
 * level access to audio, keyboard, mouse, joystick, 3D hardware via OpenGL,
 * and 2D framebuffer across multiple platforms.
 *
 * SDL is written in C, but works with C++ natively, and has bindings to
 * several other languages, including Ada, C#, Eiffel, Erlang, Euphoria,
 * Guile, Haskell, Java, Lisp, Lua, ML, Objective C, Pascal, Perl, PHP,
 * Pike, Pliant, Python, Ruby, and Smalltalk.
 *
 * This library is distributed under GNU LGPL version 2, which can be
 * found in the file "COPYING". This license allows you to use SDL
 * freely in commercial programs as long as you link with the dynamic
 *  library.
 *
 * The best way to learn how to use SDL is to check out the header files in
 * the "include" subdirectory and the programs in the "test" subdirectory.
 * The header files and test programs are well commented and always up to date.
 * More documentation and FAQs are available online at:
