Re: Poll monday: AMD or Nvidia
I have an AMD and an Intel GPU in my laptop - you could make the poll multiple-choice.
Re: Poll monday: AMD or Nvidia

I have AMD as well gotta love those low prices.

nVidia GeForce FTW ! GTX 650 has a low price and can run Crysis 3 on (almost) ultra setting (~30FPS)

Re: Poll monday: AMD or Nvidia
Mine is an Nvidia GeForce 750M in my 15" Retina MacBook Pro. I also have an Intel Iris Pro GPU that it uses by default when it doesn't need the extra graphics. (Löve automatically switches it to the Nvidia when it launches. And it switches back to Iris when done.)

You can use http://gfx.io to explicitly choose one or the other - the Iris Pro is very capable for an integrated GPU, so you probably won't need anything more powerful for LÖVE games.Jasoco wrote:Löve automatically switches it to the Nvidia when it launches. And it switches back to Iris when done.

Nvidia on my desktop, intel on my laptop. Both with Linux so AMD is a big no-no.
I'd rather only use intel but the price on the iris pro processors is too damn high.

Re: Poll monday: AMD or Nvidia
I have a Palit Nvidia GTX 560ti 1gb and an Intel GMA 3100 on the computer I'm currently using (which, incidentally, is 6-7 years old now.)
On the other (gaming) computer, I have a Sapphire Radeon R7 290x 4gb. It was the only high-end Radeon we found in our supplier, and we wanted to try different brands, so it's damn expensive.
I only chose Nvidia and Intel because I'm not using my gaming computer that often. So yeah

I already use gfxCardStatus actually. Sometimes I force it to only use Nvidia when I'm testing Löve just to keep it from constantly switching back and forth. Very handy.slime wrote:You can use http://gfx.io to explicitly choose one or the other - the Iris Pro is very capable for an integrated GPU, so you probably won't need anything more powerful for LÖVE games.Jasoco wrote:Löve automatically switches it to the Nvidia when it launches. When I'm playing with Löve I like to get as much GPU power as I can.

Here are some stats of people who play standalone Unity games - it's pretty consistent with the results of this poll: http://stats.unity3d.com/pc/gpu.html
