Why don't you try applying some LUBE to your project:

(I already used it for several things, works quite well)

I'll post this small chat client I made in LOVE. This is the first time I have posted both the server and client of this, but hopefully you can look through it and get a basic idea of how things work. TO check it out, simply run the server, then run the client and in your config options set the server to localhost or 127.0.0.1

Feel free to ask questions.

NOTE: Client will throw an incompatibility warning on startup, just ignore it and it will go away.

Whoa, necropost.

Glad my examples helped. If you need networking for games I would highly suggest you check out the wiki entry on enet. It's pretty fantastic.
