Framerate Capped at 30

Post by Anteka »

Hi everyone,

I've decided to start developing for Love again after some time, but I've run into a bit of an issue already. For some reason, my games seem to be capped at 30 FPS! I've tried disabling VSync, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Furthermore, the issue is affecting my old projects, as well, which definitely used to run much more smoothly. I've tested this on releases 0.9.0, 0.8.0, and 0.7.2, and I have the same issue regardless.

Interestingly enough, Mari0 seems to run at a full 60 FPS, even when I download the source and plug it into 0.8.0. Is there something I've completely forgotten about that I need to do? I've been pretty sick so my brain isn't quite working optimally.

Attached is an incredibly simple demo which merely outputs the current FPS which for me, of course, is 30. I've disabled VSync by default, as well.

Thank you much in advance! Apologies if this has been answered, but I couldn't find anything about it.

Well, first off, it's t.window.vsync. Not t.vsync.

Also, it caps at 60 for me.

Maybe your display limits to 30FPS? Mari0 may actually be displaying at 30 but the game might still be running at 60. Maybe it uses some special tricks for limiting FPS or something. I dunno. Either way I'm getting 60FPS.

Ah, jeez, sorry for making such a stupid oversight. Just changed that and everything's running smooth now. Guess my display is indeed capping at 30 FPS. I just threw VSync on in Mari0, and I'm getting a choppy 30 FPS in that as well, so it's definitely the problem. Kinda strange, as it doesn't seem to do this with anything else. At any rate, thanks much for your help!
