Legend of Noru: Zelda clone
Storyline:
(Who cares? it's just short example!)
Long time ago, there were half-deer brood that called Shika.
Shika people were peaceful and happy.
but, Lot the Slime invaded Shika kingdom with his fellow slimes,
Shika's peace got broken.
Many soldiers tried to defeat Lot, but they all failed.
because evil slime god, Zeeba blessed Lot, so Lot is invincible.
But there were one boy, Noru.
Noru heard a short legend by his grandfather.
there's three Triforce pieces, made by god of Shika, Olen.
if one of Shika gather every pieces of Triforce, he can use Olen's power.
if Noru can use Olen's power, he can defeat Lot and get back peace of Shika.
So, this is short story about Noru and his journey..

HAH! That's great! It's like if Zelda was on the Atari. Fun.
Re: Legend of Noru: Zelda clone
Funny, I was recently kicking around the idea for a Zelda clone. I've been playing the GameBoy Color Zelda games to get me in the mood.
I'm interested to see where this goes.

Pretty good!
I suggest using smooth scrolling when you move between rooms; it looks much better. Also, you can pick up some free tiles at http://www.opengameart.org to make the landscape look a little nicer.
Hope you expand on this a bit!

Re: Legend of Noru: Zelda clone
Can't you see that the art, the music, and the way it moves between screens is a choice of style? IMHO the whole thing is meant to look and play like an old old old skool game (Atari, or TRS-80 COCO, or C64, or COLECOVISION...or APPLE II)(correct me if I'm wrong)- so everything looks and feels perfectly for that kind of aesthetic. Smooth scrolling would ruin it. Pretty tiles would ruin it. Music that is high quality MP3's would ruin it. This is awesome.
That would be like looking at a game that is obv meant to imitate the Game Boy Color kinda look and feel and say, "You know what would make this better? Higher resolution art. And characters who speak using wave files!"

Re: Legend of Noru: Zelda clone
Even the original LoZ had smooth scrolling between screens. And I wasn't saying that he should add high res art, just some simple pixel art for the tiles. Right now it's just a solid color. Chill out.

I am chill, I am just sayin. Because of the music, the sound effects, the screen resolution, the graphics and the scrolling match exactly an ikd old school kinda game. Like tsr 80 coco or atari or Apple II. And that makes me think it's done on purpose and to me that is awsome. I think thus is great.
