Hello all, My name is Marco and I'm interested in making games with love2d. I don't have a programming background. My interest are casual & simple games made with love and intended to be free and open source. I was developing a game with Game Maker (the free version). But as i needed more resources I realize the limit that GM put to free users. So here I am, I'm going to port my game to love 2d!
Here's the unfinished version on GM if you would like to try it:

Tell me what you think and if there are limitations with this engine or any thing I should know

Re: New to love2d
There are always limitations, but LÖVE's performance is a lot better than GameMaker's.
Are you familiar with gamemaker's own GML programming language? That should give you a boost to get started with. Otherwise you'll have to start from basics, which might take you a while.

Instead of an executable, please give us a *.love file.
It will be much more appreciated. Linux and MAC OSX users will have the chance to try it, as well Windows users.

He's linking the gamemaker version of the game, not the love one.

To Plu: Yes, I made the game entirely using GML. I was a bit obsessive to not using DnD actions. I didn't like them. I'm happy to hear love2d has better performance than GM!
To Roland_Yonaba: It's not a love2d game. It's a Game made on Game Maker. Sorry if it's an installer. I don't know how to make it portable and GM (free version) has no Linux support.

If you're that familiar with GML you'll probably have little trouble understanding Lua. Make sure you read the PiL:

Thanks Plu!, I'll get on it. I already created the canvas for the game but the screen is all pitch black I'm starting to dig this enginePlu wrote:If you're that familiar with GML you'll probably have little trouble understanding Lua. Make sure you read the PiL:

Re: New to love2d
I also came from Game Maker, preferring GML over drag and drop. I last used GM before YoYo games bought it and basically destroyed it.
I have lots of LOVE experience but mostly a pile of incomplete projects. I'd be willing to help answer any questions, but the community here is pretty strong as well.
Welcome.

Re: New to love2d
My bad. I misread the OP, and I thout the *.exe was a *.love game merged with Love's executable. Sorry.Plu wrote:He's linking the gamemaker version of the game, not the love one.
Anyway @osoresmarcotuc, let us know what you come up with. Lots of people here are just willing to help and give you feedback.
Don't you feel the Löve ?
