RPG System [WIP]

Post by nUMBRA »

Well...I've posted here maybe once or twice (was even working on a platformer), but have since moved over to another game type. :o:

This past month or two I've used my little amounts of freetime to begin work on an RPG system, as shown below. In order to change in-game NPCs, functions, and such, it does require Tiled and some minor programming knowledge.

IN USE:
Navi Message System (Huge fan)
TEsound
AdvTiledLoader

TO PLAY:
[Arrow Keys] - Movement
[Z] - Action key
[X] - Open In-Game-Menu / Back up
[F7] - Mute
[F6] - Unmute
[F10] - Shows some map / object debug info
[F11] - Damages character by 1 point (so you can test the potions)

HINTS:
- The bush in the top left of the second area has a vast amount of potions...
- All dialogue is random
- There are invisible 'doors', you can use [F10] to see them if you're lost...
- This is still a work in progress...

I've never been good at description thingies...

By-the-way, if you take a peek under the hood, the code is considerably messy. :|

[File's just barely too big due to music, so here's my google drive link]

Enjoy!

I loved it!
With projects like this that makes me want to do my games!
I'm just a noob in programming, and i'm using löve to do RPG games just like this one.
I hope you don't mind if i take a peek on your codes so i can learn somethings...
Well, thank you for sharing this, and sorry, my english is not very good.

WOW that' s really good, I'm really digging your old-school-like RPG overall style, can't wait for the fighting system.

Keep on doing the great work :ultraglee:

Go right ahead. Just be warned, I am not exactly the cleanest coder...

I believe every game developer wants to make an epic role-playing game, heh. I grew up loving the RPGs on the NES and SNES, so I really like that retro style. Great-looking work! ^^

Thanks a lot!

I really can't take credit on any of the graphics (with the exception of the character on the in-game menu screen), it's all from opengameart. But I do also love the SNES style. ^^
