I made a really, really simple introduction to trig cheat-sheet for a friend I'm teaching to LOVE. It is by no means perfect, but I think the information is solid and enough to get someone who knows very little about trig using the sin and cos functions.
I've attached it. Feel free to distribute.

Re: All About Angles
Neat. Love the header.
“Mostpeople” -> “Most people”
“yeild” -> “yield” (twice)
“θdeg” in the second tip looks weird.

Cool, though math.deg and math.rad might be worth mentioning.

Re: All About Angles
I don't know whether this is a bit overkill, but the first trigonometric function that newies want to use is arcTangent ("How can I make my turret point to the player").
Another thing worth mentioning is angle normalization: angles less than 0 or bigger than 2*Pi have "equivalents" on the 0-2*Pi range.

When I write def I mean function.

Re: All About Angles
Not for me it wasn't -- my first actual use of trig was UFO's circling a planet. I borrowed the code from a clock display.kikito wrote:I don't know whether this is a bit overkill, but the first trigonometric function that newies want to use is arcTangent ("How can I make my turret point to the player").

Awesome!
Thanks!
It is incredibly useful for people like me who never got a proper math education.

Re: All About Angles
Well... I made this in a few minutes for a friend. Is this something that people would like to see a tutorial series on? If so, I'll make it happen.

Yeah make some tutorials!zachwlewis wrote:Is this something that people would like to see a tutorial series on? If so, I'll make it happen.
