Re: Vertigo (Beta)
I'm tlling you, just look at my Zelda engine project. Just don't steal my code verbatim. It'll help figure out how to do what you want. Mines a top down but a similar method should work for collision detection in a side scroller.
Re: Vertigo (Beta)
Edited the collision function, game uploaded in OP
If you experienced the game running slow before, reply if it runs much faster now, it should.

Waaaay faster, it is playable now.
Now if only there were some more screens... (or am I missing something?)

No, there's only 3 in the example map. But that map isn't finished, it can have up to 64 roomsbartbes wrote:Waaaay faster, it is playable now.

Re: Vertigo (Beta)
It was playable fine before. For me at least.
Re: Vertigo (Beta)
Yes, but some users *cough cough* bartbes! experienced bad performance when running on their computer. This fix also allows me to add more complicated stuff to the game without making it lag a little, and some users bartbes! have the power to manipulate my forum posts. You should never fight with the soviet! (and moderators)

Re: Vertigo (Beta)
I'd be interested to hear what computers and specs the "bad" users have. Mine's a Core2Duo 2.0GHz with GMA 950 graphics and 2GB RAM OS X 10.6.2 and it worked great with no slowdown.
Re: Vertigo (Beta)
It plays really smooth on my computer (whose caracteristics can be found there: http://love2d.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=14059#p14059 ), and I like the concept and implementation very much. I couldn't find the original game on internet, but I was curious to see.

Re: Vertigo (Beta)
My computer is not that new, but it can play all modern 3D games, there should be no case in which a 'simple' 2D game is slower.Jasoco wrote:I'd be interested to hear what computers and specs the "bad" users have.
