Upgrades:
Bullet time mode
One shot bombs that clear the screen or an area
Bigger hammer
More precise control
A second hammer or more
A helper that sits at the mouse and shoots at asteroids
Different shapes of hammers
1Up (assuming a lives system)

Multiplayer (or a different way for a second person to play with keyboard/joystick)

Awesome! Those are all great ideas!
I'm not sure how a second hammer would work. It would have to act differently than the first one, or eventually they would start to overlap. Or maybe the hammer could have a hammer... That would actually be pretty interesting.
I had never even thought of adding a second player. Most likely they would operate a turret on the planet with the arrow keys.
And I'm planning on adding lives to the next version, as well as a main menu and pause. After that I'll get to work on all this stuff. :nyu:

New update! I've added a main menu, and pausing.(Both are very rough, but at least the guts are there.) The seed for the random numbers also changes every round. (Before, the first round was always exactly the same.) No change in the game-play though. :(
I hope you like it! Please, any suggestions are very welcome!

0.1.1 tested
Fourex wrote:If you would be so kind, play the game, and give some feedback. I've got a few questions I'd really like answered:
-How is the "feel" of the Hammer? Is it too sensitive, or too slow?
-Would you like any change in the pacing of the game? Should the difficulty slowly increase, or should it be quick and hard?
-What power-ups or upgrades (or maybe even little buildings on the planet) would you like to see?
-What other enemy types would you like? I'm definitely going to have some sort of alien.
-How many lives should there be?
-Any other suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated!
It feels... not-directly controlled, but rather smooth.

Powerups:
- freeze
- slow asteroids
- effects! (COLORFUL OVERDONE EXPLOSIONS BOOM BANG YEAH! :joker: )

Other suggestions:
- explosion animations (just some lines) are a must for both destroyed asteroids and impacts on the planet.
- draw the lives counter at the center of the planet as number/pie chart/bar

all I can see for now :)

Awesome ideas! Thanks! I'm in the middle of setting up a power-up system. It should be done within a few days!

Very cool idea. A nice mix of asteroids/tower defense. My ideas are:
  • I definitely agree with the idea of explosions. It would make the game much shinier.
  • It would be nice if the planet actually showed damage (like chunks of it missing) when an asteroid or other enemy hit it.
  • A more graphical hud would be cool, including a health indicator for the planet, maybe a counter for the number of enemies left in the level (if you have levels), the level you're on (also if you have levels), and maybe a way to select a powerup (if you have powerups).
  • Powerups :). The powerups could include:
    • An extra hammer that mirrors the original hammer (or multiple extra hammer) for increased coverage of the map
    • A barrier for the planet
    • Increase the hammer size
    • Health for the planet
    • Mines that you can drop and when asteroids hit them they will explode, destroying all asteroids within a certain radius
