LÖVE Game Competions?

Post by Davidobot »

Are there any official or unofficial LÖVE-specific game contests? I brought this topic up because the 7dfps is soon starting and that kinda led onto this...

We had a whole sub-site for the LOVE-Jam, which we used exactly twice and was totally abandoned.

There have been occasional forum driven contests, but most of the members who were into running those have left us.

The sub-website: http://love2d.org/jam (Doesn't work btw, remember I was on it when it did....)
Unofficial Competition: http://love2d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8769

What's wrong with general competitions? Like, Ludum Dare?

because fuck ludum dare i'm spiderman

It's some LÖVE-pride thing, and people want to have LÖVE based competitions, I guess.
It's on par with asking what's wrong with ponies. There's nothing really wrong, per se, people just like it.

I'd say that the fact that LÖVE is a popular choice for Ludum Dare is more important to LÖVE pride than a LÖVE competition.

Yeah, I'd say people want LÖVE-exclusive compos because they like the community here and would rather make games for a limited audience that they know is supportive, rather than putting their quickly-made games up for the whole world to see, not because LÖVE pride or something.

I think this is why.
And maybe some LÖVE-pride....

Sorry for double posting. Are we going to have a Löve-Jam this year?
Carried on here since I didn't want to derail the Ludum Dare 27 thread.
