Here's a little tech demo I have for a first person lo-fi dungeon crawler I worked on for the now finished TIGSource Assemblee competition (great site, check it out if you're not familiar).
This demo lets you wander around the garden, read gravestones, and what-not. Most of the work has been on the infrastructure. Very much a work in progress, but I like how it's all coming together. Probably doing some code refactoring later today, work some object oriented paradigms into there.
TO DO:
===========
NPCs and monsters
Combat mechanics
Inventory
Game content

Very nice looking interface. I liked reading all the graves too.
Re: OrthoCrawl (lofi dungeon crawler) [WIP]
Very awesome! When you expand the game, be sure not to fill it up with too many monsters. It's fun just to explore the paths.
Re: OrthoCrawl (lofi dungeon crawler) [WIP]
There really ought to be a "romance the dead" command.

I can't play it!!! I see blank rects instead of images... Why? Is it for 0.5.0 maybe?

So I need to pad my source images up to powers of 2 in width and height? Heh, I remembered reading about this but hoped nobody would have an issue with it.
If that's the case, I'll update the art with the next release.

It is looking quite good.
I got a bit lost on intersections, thought. You might want to consider putting an arrow on the minimap showing the direction the payer is facing, in addition to the player's position.

When I write def I mean function.

There's a big letter that tells you what direction you're facing.. (the letter beneath the 'viewport', in the screenshot S, for south)

TechnoCrat pointed me at this on a similar question: http://love2d.org/docs/ImageData.html. The example on the bottom may give you a couple ideas.ecliptic wrote:So I need to pad my source images up to powers of 2 in width and height?
