I have a bit of free time during the summer and instead of starting another project on my own, I would rather help out with an already existing project. Experience teaches that most indies develop their own amazing ideas but then fail to finish them - I wan't to try the opposite: Instead of coming up with my own awesome unfinishable project, I'd like to help finish someone elses.
In the past, I mostly programmed alone, and I'd like to learn how to program with another programmer.
So I am willing to work for you, for free, subject to some conditions. I have experience in C, C++, Lua and a bit of experience in web programming (php, html, mysql) and java. I'd like to stick mainly to Löve and Lua for this, though.
Games I would help out with:
- Should have an interesting idea behind it. I don't want to program another Mario clone. Something unique is nice.
- Should be a realistic goal. No MMO.
- There must be at least one other, dedicated, programmer involved. I don't want to make your game, I just want to help out. And I want to learn how to programm in a team.
- Multiplayer is a plus, but not neccessary. I like multiplayer, and have a lot of experience in it (see below).
- Open source is also a plus, but not a must. I like this one, too
- Git or something similar for management of the project.
- Combat Simulation System (C) What I did: Network code, player movement, UI code, all the code besides the shaders, basically.
- Wiki-Based-RPG (Lua, Löve) What I did: Everything. Mainly a proof-of-concept that involved lots of interaction of the game with the internet.
- trAInsported (Lua, Löve) What I did: Everything. Lots of network code was involved here...
P.S. I will only work on Linux. I refuse to switch to other OSes for my hobbies
