Re: Primitive "Tiled" map loader and 2D game lighting
Oh hey, very cool! Thank you adrix. I have moved on to other projects, so if anybody wants to pick this one up and make it their own, feel free. :) I'm pretty excited though that you got it working. I think we did end up pinning down the problem to too big of a sprite-sheet, right? I'm using the til...

Re: 4X Space Game (Dune/Dominions/EotfS)
It started going down a road that was getting to complex and meant a lot more army micromanagement. I'm curious why this is considered a bad thing. Allowing more micro-management adds another skill-set a player must master to become a good player. It will allow for much more interesting games to ha...

Re: 4X Space Game (Dune/Dominions/EotfS)
Interesting concept! How does the game determine which actions get priority when two players submit commands which work against each other (e.g. Unit X attack Unit Y, Unit Z attack Unit X). Does Unit Y still get attacked if Unit Z did enough damage to kill Unit X? You get the idea. :) Or X attacks ...

Re: Paralax Scrolling BG + Sprite Animations
You could try something out-the-box and more conceptual. For example explore things like transport to a distant goal an object (the box, a ball) in the air without letting it fall. The samurai delivery man who broke his legs, is forbidden to carry things with his hands, but must fly packages to the...

Re: What should I call this adorable little platformer?
Thanks for the support and kind words everyone! If anyone has any 8-bit GB sounding sound effects that might fit this game, I'd love to have some. Simple things like falling objects, crashing, some death sounds, dropping from a ledge, climbing and walking, opening a door. Other stuff that might fit...

Re: Paralax Scrolling BG + Sprite Animations
I agree, but unfortunately I'm not an artist and the spriteset didn't have a "running" animation. The gliding looks great in the air but is definitely awkward on the ground. You could have game play where you would have to jump to move. ;) I think you were joking, but that's actually kind...

Re: 4X Space Game (Dune/Dominions/EotfS)
Simultaneous turns. All players submit orders which eventually get executed at once, massively saving on turn time and keeping games moving. Interesting concept! How does the game determine which actions get priority when two players submit commands which work against each other (e.g. Unit X attack...

Re: What should I call this adorable little platformer?
See, as I said, gaps will be either jumpable, or you'll be able to drop down. So it'll allow me to have more freedom in level design. And it does give it more visual niceness. No, it won't be a full puzzle. It will have puzzles. But the platforming aspects will be more like Solomon/Fire 'n' Ice (Wh...
